About Me

While I have been taking pictures as long as I can remember, going all the way back to a little green plastic 35mm film camera I got as a young child, I did not really get into photography for pure enjoyment until my sophomore year of college. That was when my brother bought himself a new camera, and I got his old one. It was the first camera I had that was capable of taking action shots of things I loved doing: track and field, and whitewater kayaking.

Eventually, that camera fell into a river, and I went without for a year. I realized I really did miss taking pictures, both as a way to document the moments that defined my college years, and as an art form. I then bought my own camera, and a nice lens to go with it, and the rest is history. I still take pictures for many reasons: to capture moments, to make an asthetically pleasing image, sometimes just because I can. I am constantly learning about what I like in an image, and how to make my photographs more powerful. It has taught me a lot about myself, and about other people. I look forward to continuing this journey of crafting images out of light!

In August of 2015, I decided to go back to school for a graduate degree in Molecular Biology, and to that end, moved to Boston. I have loved getting to know the city, and am starting to discover some favorite new spots to take pictures. I am starting to get back in my groove, and looking forward to a great summer!
